Website: Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey
Visit Site
I was going to do maybe a site of the day but then I realized, that would take a lot of effort. I’m all about getting content up here, but I’m not that crazy. I was just thinking of a conversation that I had with by buddy Sha… and we were remember the days of SNL and Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey. A quick google search and of course this site pops up. Now I want to buy the book and put it in our coffee table.
Here are a few of my favorite ones:
“It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.”
“I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.”
Craigslist is just too good.
Posted January 14, 2009
My only regret is not discovering Craigslist earlier. I was just telling my wife today… I don’t think I’ll ever buy camera gear (mainly camera lenses) new again. There’s just a wealth of things out there that people are willing to give up and sell. Especially in these tough economic times, people need cash right away and there are people who just need some cheap stuff. Just some random thoughts. Now I just have to get myself to use that lawn mower I bought months ago from Craigslist. Don’t get me wrong… I’ve used it a number of times, but I’ve been busy recently. The grass is getting long. 🙂
Google Search: icebreaker chewy
Posted January 13, 2009
You can find my blog now by searching “icebreaker chewy.” At least as of today. Yesterday when I did a search, it came up as the top result. Today it is the 5th result. I think it’s because I did a little update to that post. I still thought it was pretty interesting.

Review: The Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa, Pasadena
The wife and I took a little mini vacation for a our five year anniversary. I got a great deal on a room on hotels.com at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. I normally don’t book 5 star hotels nor can I afford to, but for a special occasion and a great deal, why not. Next to the name listed on hotels.com, it said “Formerly Ritz-Carlton.” Even though we only stayed one night, it’s definitely a thumbs up.
Here are a few pictures from the hotel.
Five Years and counting
Posted January 11, 2009
Can you believe it? On this day, 2004, May and I got married. It’s been a wonderful five years and I would say as the years go by, it has just been getting better. Now if we can find a cheap ticket back to Bora Bora.
The moon is hard to shoot
Posted January 10, 2009
Dude, the moon is not easy to shoot, especially the first time. A few things I realized and learned… you need a pretty long lens, like a 500-600mm to get a good shot of it. I used my 200mm and it looked pretty small on my LCD screen. Luckily I have 10 megapixels to work with. The next thing I learned is, you need a pretty fast shutter speed to capture the moon. The above picture was taken with a shutter speed of 1/8000 sec.
Look at how small the moon was out of the camera even at 200mm.
My next phone?

Palm announced their new OS and a new phone.. the Palm Pre. This thing looks sweet. Of course, my first PDA was a palm and my first smartphone was a Palm Treo 650. Unfortunately, this will initially be on Sprint but I’m hoping it will come out on Verizon soon after. I can’t wait to see it in person. Hopefully it won’t disappointment like the Blackberry Storm did.

Review: Ice Breaker Chewy Sours
So I’m going to start a new review section on my blog. What am I going to be reviewing… anything and everything. Candy, gadgets, restaraunts, etc. Why am I doing it… well.. because I can and if something stands out to me, good or bad, I’ll share about it.
My first review is something I saw at the supermarket in the checkout line, the Ice Breaker Chews Sours. Maybe I got a bad box or something, but these things are kind of hard to chew and the flavor doesn’t quite have the same kick as it’s hard candy cousin, the Ice Breakers Sours. This is definitely a thumbs down.
Update: A quick explanation of why I gave it a thumbs down. It’s all about texture. When I first bit into it, I didn’t know if it was a bubble gum or something else. I know it’s not much explanation, but still… if it’s chewy candy, I want it to be Skittle like or bubble gum like, but not something that I can’t explain.
The lobsters have arrived
Posted January 8, 2009
Like most people, I shoot a lot of pictures, but I print very few of them. When I do print out pictures, I usually print out 4×6 prints or 5×7. Before yesterday, the biggest prints that we had in the house were a bunch of 11×14 and 11×17 prints on the wall. My wife really liked the picture I took of some lobsters we ate during our trip to Boston while visiting Andy and Crystal. She liked it so much that she thought it would be really good decoration right near the dining table. How big you ask? It’s 24×36 print. Man, I’ve never printed out something this big before.
